Transport For People With Mobility Restrictions
Scottish Charity SC 013906

Dial-A-Bus provides transport from home to local shopping centres for people who cannot manage by ordinary bus.

The Service operates at least once a week from most areas in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

If you need a friend or relative to accompany you, let us know when you book and he/she can come too.

We may be able to arrange for someone to help you with your shopping. The driver will give you any help you need to get on or off the bus, it has been designed for easy access and is "wheelchair friendly".

Full details of local services will be sent to you once you have registered for
Dial-A-Bus.

When Does it Operate?
Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

How Does it Work?
You need to book a place on it by telephoning your local service, Monday to Friday. (see bookings and enquiries). The bus will then pick you up at your door (if necessary the driver will escort you to the bus) and will set you down at the shopping location. You will have between 1 to 2 hours at the shopping centre and then return home. The driver will take you and your shopping to your door if you need help.

Do I need to be registered with Dial-A-Bus?
Yes. You will find a form with this leaflet which you should return to
Dial-A-Bus.

Can I be accompanied?
Yes. If you are unable to travel by yourself you may bring an escort with you who will also travel at £1.60 return. Please remember to tell us you need space for an escort when you book.

Is there room for passengers who are wheelchair users?
Yes. The Dial-A-Bus is accessible which allows those in wheelchairs to have access to the service.
